Of our six New Jersey stores, the Brick location at 921 Cedar Bridge Avenue is the single one on the Jersey Shore, and that shapes nearly everything that comes across our counter. Ocean County has been home to retirees and longtime families for generations, and a lot of those families built coin holdings quietly over the decades. When those holdings change hands, they tend to land here.

We pull sellers from a wide stretch of the shore: Toms River, Lakewood, Point Pleasant, Howell, Jackson, Wall, and Manasquan all sit within an easy drive of the Cedar Bridge corridor. Many of the people who walk in are not hobbyists at all. They are the son, daughter, or grandchild of someone who collected, and they arrive holding a box they have never really looked through.

Inherited shore collections are our specialty

Because the Brick store sits in retiree country, inherited coin collections are the heart of what we do here. A typical visit starts with a relative carrying in a folder of wheat pennies, a few rolls of old silver, a couple of Morgan dollars wrapped in tissue, and maybe a gold coin tucked at the bottom of a drawer. None of it is labeled, and nobody is sure what matters.

That is exactly the situation we are set up for. We open the lot in front of you, identify what is bullion, what is junk silver, and what carries a collector premium, and we walk you through each pile so the offer makes sense by the time we name a number. There is no rush to decide, and there is no obligation to sell a single piece.

How we read a coin instead of a scale

The reason a shore family is better off bringing a collection to a coin shop than to a generic buyer comes down to how each coin is read. Pre-1965 dimes, quarters, and half dollars are 90% silver, and a bag of them mixed with no key dates is valued on silver weight against the live spot price. But a worn 1916 Standing Liberty quarter or a low-mintage Morgan in that same bag is a numismatic coin, and it gets pulled out and looked up rather than weighed.

Gold gets the same treatment. A common American Gold Eagle is priced as bullion off live spot, while a pre-1933 Saint-Gaudens or Liberty Head double eagle may carry a collector premium well above its metal content. We sort the metal from the numismatics before quoting so you can see precisely which side of the line each piece falls on.
