When It's Time to Sell a Serious Collection

Some coin collections are a handful of inherited silver dollars. Others represent decades of careful buying, grading, and cataloging. If you've built a serious collection and you're ready to sell, or you're downsizing and need to liquidate, our Manalapan store at 356 Route 9 North is set up to handle high-value transactions.

We see experienced collectors from Freehold, Marlboro, Old Bridge, Englishtown, and Colts Neck. Many of them have been buying coins for 20 or 30 years. They know what they have. They just need a buyer who will pay a fair price without the hassle of online auctions or coin show haggling. That's us.

For certified coins in PCGS or NGC slabs, pricing is straightforward. The grade is right there on the holder. We check current market values for that specific coin in that specific grade and make an offer. No guesswork on either side. If you have a registry set or a collection of high-grade coins, we can evaluate the whole thing in one sitting.

Raw coins take a bit more work. We examine each piece under magnification, assess the grade, check for cleaning or problems, and determine if the coin has value above melt. An uncirculated Morgan dollar with original toning is a very different coin from a cleaned, polished one. That difference shows up in the price, and we know how to spot it.

Gold bullion coins are selling for record prices. With gold above historic levels in early 2026, a tube of 20 American Gold Eagles represents over $60,000. We have the resources to buy large gold positions in a single transaction. Krugerrands, Maple Leafs, Philharmonics, Buffaloes, Chinese Pandas. Bring them all.

We also buy complete sets, type sets, and partial collections. If you spent years assembling a set of Barber quarters or Standing Liberty quarters, we'll evaluate it as a collection, not just a pile of silver. Set completeness and overall condition matter, and we factor that into our pricing.

Route 9, Route 33, and Route 522 all bring you close to our store. Parking is right out front. For large collections worth $10,000 or more, call (732) 792-3300 ahead so we can make sure we have enough time set aside. For smaller lots, just walk in. You can also request a free appraisal through our website.

Certified Coins and Grading: What We Look For

Third-party grading has changed the coin market. A coin graded MS-65 by PCGS or NGC trades for a known price. The holder protects the coin and guarantees its grade. We buy certified coins all the time, and the process is quick since the hard work of grading is already done.

For raw (ungraded) coins, condition is everything. Here's a simplified breakdown:

  • Good to Very Good (G-VG): Heavy wear, design elements flat. Usually worth melt value unless the date is rare.
  • Fine to Very Fine (F-VF): Moderate wear, major details visible. Some dates command premiums at this level.
  • Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated (EF-AU): Light wear on high points only. Many coins start showing real collector premiums here.
  • Mint State (MS): No wear at all. The coin was never circulated. This is where values can really jump, especially MS-63 and above.

We grade conservatively and honestly. If we think a coin is VF-30, we tell you that and price it accordingly. We don't lowball grades to save money on our end. That kind of thing kills repeat business, and we'd rather earn your trust. Visit our coin buying page for more details on what we purchase.
